American military assets are shifting toward the Middle East in preparation for a potential new conflict with Iran. The United States is relocating a Patriot air and missile defense system from Texas to the region. This move is part of a broader buildup of forces as Washington and Israel prepare for heavy combat operations.
The Patriot system includes radar equipment, an engagement control station, missile launchers, and interceptor missiles. Its deployment is intended to strengthen American defenses against potential escalation. In parallel, US troops have been moved away from bases that officials consider vulnerable to Iranian attacks.
According to people briefed on recent conversations, the White House has warned several Gulf Arab countries to prepare for a short but intense military campaign. This operation is expected to commence after the November 3 midterm elections. US forces are currently replenishing munitions stockpiles, while bomber aircraft and fighter jets are being readied for possible strikes.
The naval presence in the region is also expanding. An additional aircraft carrier strike group and a Marine Expeditionary Unit are expected to join the roughly 20 US warships already in the Middle East in November. This follows an earlier decision to deploy the USS Theodore Roosevelt and additional Marine personnel. A US official confirmed on October 1 that these deployments were widening Washington's military options.
President Donald Trump has not yet made a final decision on launching a new campaign. Reports indicate he is leaning toward strikes on Iranian infrastructure and nuclear facilities, though a negotiated agreement remains possible. Iran has threatened to widen its retaliation if attacks resume, targeting energy infrastructure, airports, and other civilian facilities across the Persian Gulf.
Security concerns have increased following US intelligence warnings of Iranian plots against American officials and citizens. A US official confirmed on Friday that Secretary of State Marco Rubio received a memorandum warning that Iranian efforts to target Americans had intensified. Additionally, two diplomatic sources said on October 15 that Iran urged Hezbollah to raise its readiness in anticipation of further US military action.
