President Donald Trump proposed that Dana White, the chief executive of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, take over as White House press secretary. The announcement came on Saturday via a post on Truth Social, arriving weeks after the previous holder of the position was removed from office.
In the post, Trump described White as a "violent Fighter and Warrior" and stated that he had been offered the job. The president asked White to bring a specific group of assistants, naming Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes, and Kayla Harris. Trump noted that some of these individuals are not from the United States and wrote that the group would help defend the administration against the "Lunatic Left."
It is not yet clear if White has accepted the offer or if the proposal is a formal one. UFC representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The suggestion follows a period of rapid turnover in the communications office.
Last week, Trump discussed the possibility of musician Nikki Minaj serving in the role during an interview. He called it a good idea and said he would think about it. The position was most recently held by Katie Zacharia, who was ousted in October after serving only five days. That tenure was the shortest in White House history.
Zacharia had succeeded Karoline Leavitt, who served from Jan. 20, 2025, through Aug. 27. Leavitt left to become a contributor for Fox News Channel. At age 27, she was the youngest person to serve as White House press secretary.
