Robert C. Hill Jr. will lead the American Red Cross Greater Miami & The Keys Chapter as its new executive director. The South Florida Region of the organization announced the appointment on Sunday, placing Hill in charge of humanitarian aid, disaster preparedness, and community resilience programs across Miami-Dade County and the Florida Keys.

Hill enters the role with two decades of experience in community health and nonprofit management. His most recent position was as vice president of community impact for the American Heart Association in Miami-Dade. In that capacity, he coordinated efforts among healthcare systems, schools, government agencies, and businesses to address nutrition security, chronic disease prevention, and health equity.

His background also includes serving as executive co-chair of the Consortium for a Healthier Miami-Dade. Nova Southeastern University recognized his community service by awarding him an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters. He holds a Master of Public Health from Nova Southeastern University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Florida.

Krista Coletti, CEO of the South Florida Region, welcomed Hill to the chapter. She said his leadership and passion for service would be instrumental in strengthening the organization’s mission. Coletti noted that she looks forward to his work in building partnerships and empowering communities to become more resilient. The Red Cross relies on volunteers and public generosity to shelter and feed disaster victims, supply approximately 40 percent of the nation’s blood, and support military families.

Hill expressed that he is honored to serve the Greater Miami & The Keys community. He stated that he has seen what is possible when organizations unite around a shared purpose. He highlighted the Red Cross history of responding to crises and expressed excitement about working with volunteers and leaders to strengthen preparedness in the region.

The appointment places Hill at the head of a local chapter responsible for rapid response during natural disasters and major emergencies. His prior focus on health equity and community partnerships suggests a continued emphasis on preventative measures and long-term resilience strategies alongside immediate disaster aid. The South Florida Region will continue to coordinate with local partners to expand these initiatives under his new leadership.
