Paula Reid starts as MS NOW’s chief White House reporter on Thursday, according to a memo from Washington bureau chief Sudeep Reddy. The move lands just days before the midterm elections, a timing Reddy described as a heady moment for the Versant-backed outlet.

Reddy stated that Reid will serve as a key reporting voice and help drive investigative journalism. She will collaborate closely with Scott Foster, who leads the White House unit, and other staff members including Vaughn Hillyard, Laura Barrón-López, Jake Traylor, and Akayla Gardner.

Reid most recently worked as CNN’s chief legal affairs correspondent. In that role, she covered the Justice Department, federal investigations, and the Supreme Court, occasionally filling in as an anchor. Before joining CNN, she spent more than a decade at CBS News, where she covered the Justice Department and served as a White House correspondent.

Two people familiar with the situation said Reid turned down a contract renewal at CNN in part due to uncertainty about the network’s future. The outlet recently came under the control of new corporate parent Skydance. MS NOW has shifted its focus toward harder news and enterprise journalism under president Rebecca Kutler.

Reid joins a growing group of experienced journalists at the outlet. Recent hires include Peter Alexander, Eugene Daniels, and David Rohde.
