Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell remains in a local hospital following a neck injury sustained Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. The team released a brief statement on Monday confirming that preliminary indications are positive, though they are withholding further details to respect the player's privacy.
The injury occurred in the fourth quarter with 14:48 left on the clock. Campbell attempted to tackle Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson from one side while Lions teammate Jimmy Rolder struck Hockenson from the opposite side. Campbell went down motionless, face down on the field, and medical staff immobilized him on a board for nine minutes.
Quarterback Jared Goff described the moment as emotionally difficult for the locker room. "Jack’s deal was definitely scary," Goff said. He noted that the incident served as a reminder that Campbell is a husband and father, adding that the team is praying for his recovery.
Campbell, 26, is in his fourth professional season and earned first-team All-Pro honors last year. He recorded three tackles before the injury on Sunday. His season total now stands at 57, following a career-high 176 tackles in the previous campaign.
