Arlington Martin enters the final two weeks of the regular season ranked tenth in the 6A North Texas division. The Eagles hold a 9-0 record, yet they trail five other schools in the latest Inside High School Sports poll released this week.
The rankings, compiled by Matt Diggs of Inside High School Sports, place Allen at number one. The Jets are also 9-0, but they sit above Martin in the hierarchy. North Crowley and Lewisville occupy the second and third positions, respectively. Both of those teams have also played nine games without a loss.
Waxahachie and Prosper complete the top five. Both squads carry 8-1 records. The gap between the fifth-ranked team and the tenth-ranked Martin is a single win in terms of the standings, but the poll separates them by five spots.
Southlake Carroll, Denton Guyer, and Duncanville occupy the sixth, seventh, and eighth positions. Longview takes ninth place. The Eagles now sit just behind the Thunderbirds in the local poll.
The 6A North Texas list extends to twenty-five teams. Lake Highlands is seventh, Aledo is twelfth, and Coppell is thirteenth. Rockwall, Keller Central, and Prosper Walnut Grove round out the middle of the pack.
North Forney is seventeenth, Hebron is eighteenth, and Keller is nineteenth. Wylie East sits at number twenty, while Byron Nelson and Sachse follow at twenty-one and twenty-two. Rockwall-Heath, Euless Trinity, and Denton Braswell close out the list at twenty-four, twenty-five, and twenty-three.
