The Milwaukee Brewers hold a 3-0 lead in the World Series after scoring eight runs in the fifth inning of Game 3. Tampa Bay now stands one loss from elimination in the best-of-seven series.
The series has progressed rapidly against the Rays. The team entered the series with high expectations but failed to secure a single victory in the first three matchups. The decisive fifth inning on Monday night sealed the deficit, leaving the visitors in control of the remaining games.
Supporters at Tropicana Field expressed frustration with the team's offensive production. Jeff Ballenger, a U.S. Coast Guard member based in Alaska, traveled from Lakeland to attend Game 3. He argued that the organization requires greater financial commitment to improve its lineup.
Ballenger suggested an additional $50 million in payroll could enhance the team's competitiveness. He also advocated for increased playing time for young prospects. "We definitely need more investment in the team. We need hitting. We need hitting," he said.
Local players also voiced uncertainty about the Rays' chances. Ethan Frame, a University of Tampa baseball player, stated that the team is running out of time. His teammate Evan Peerless acknowledged the difficulty of the situation but maintained that a comeback remains possible. "I think if there’s any team that can do it, it’s definitely the Rays," Peerless said.
Game 4 is scheduled for Tuesday night at Tropicana Field. The Rays must win this game to keep their season alive. Ballenger remains optimistic about manager Kevin Cash and the potential for a four-game sweep, noting that such a run would shock the baseball world.
