Miro Heiskanen did not score, but his final action decided the game at American Airlines Center on Thursday. After Jason Robertson blocked a Winnipeg scoring chance in overtime, Heiskanen sent Roope Hintz down the ice alone. Hintz finished the breakaway with 3:47 remaining in the extra period, giving Dallas a 3-2 victory.

The sequence transformed a defensive stop into an immediate offensive threat. Heiskanen’s outlet pass changed the possession, allowing Hintz to provide the finish. The play relied on a shared effort, as Robertson’s block ended the Winnipeg chance that had originated from a Robertson turnover earlier in the sequence.

The pass came at the conclusion of a lengthy shift for Heiskanen. With Esa Lindell scratched, Heiskanen played 29 minutes and 20 seconds, while Thomas Harley logged 28 minutes and 27 seconds. The next Dallas defender on the depth chart was Lian Bichsel at 17 minutes and 47 seconds, with Nils Lundkvist, Tyler Myers, and Kyle Capobianco also contributing minutes. These totals indicate a heavy reliance on the team's top two defensemen.

Dallas trailed for much of the contest. John Johnston opened the scoring early in the second period, and Gabriel Vilardi and Kyle Connor extended the Winnipeg lead later in that frame. The Stars remained behind until Hintz scored a six-on-five power-play goal with two minutes left in regulation to force overtime.

The shot count suggested the Stars should have controlled the game more comfortably. Dallas outshot Winnipeg 38-19, but Connor Hellebuyert’s counterpart, Skinner, made 35 saves. The defense limited Winnipeg opportunities, but Dallas struggled to convert its numerous chances into goals during regulation.

Heiskanen recorded five shots, one block, and the winning assist, while Harley finished without a goal. Neither defenseman needed to score for their performance to be effective in a game decided by a single finish.

Lindell’s absence remains a current fact for the roster, with no established return date or revised rotation announced after the game. The team’s workload distribution will be monitored as the schedule continues, but the immediate result stands as a 3-2 win for Dallas.
