Escambia County is set to host the Southeastern Conference Soccer Tournament for the fifth consecutive year. The competition will take place at Ashton Brosnaham Athletic Park in the North Escambia area, beginning Sunday, November 8 and concluding Sunday, November 15.
The tournament features the conference's top 12 women's soccer teams vying for the championship title. District 5 Commissioner Steven Barry stated that hosting the event in the district is an honor. He expressed anticipation for welcoming players, coaches, and fans to the county.
Barry noted that the event serves as an opportunity for Northwest Florida to showcase its community as a destination for sporting events. He claimed the tournament draws thousands of attendees to the area. Barry credited Pensacola Sports and the SEC for their partnership, alongside the staff members and volunteers who support the event.
According to Barry, the tournament has drawn thousands of spectators and generated millions of dollars in local economic impact since 2022. He thanked the teams and fans in advance, wishing them a successful competition.
Escambia County Parks and Recreation completed upgrades to Ashton Brosnaham Athletic Park to prepare for the event. These improvements were made to ensure the facility meets SEC competition standards. Parks and Recreation Director Michael Rhodes said the team has worked hard to ready the field for the players and fans.
Rhodes described hosting the tournament at a local facility as an honor. He thanked the personnel working behind the scenes to make the event happen. The 2025 championship was won by Vanderbilt, which defeated LSU in the final match.
