Owners of the OnePlus 15 and the OnePlus Pad 4 in India are receiving the stable build of Android 17 on October 23. The software package, branded as ColorOS 17, replaces the OxygenOS interface that the company has used on its global devices for years. This early delivery means these specific users will have access to the new system features before the rest of the world.
The shift to ColorOS completes the consolidation of OnePlus’s software strategy. OxygenOS began as a lightweight layer on top of standard Android but evolved into a variant of Oppo’s ColorOS for international markets. When OnePlus reduced its global operations, the company announced that OxygenOS would be retired and that all existing hardware would migrate to the ColorOS platform.
The current rollout marks the first stable release for the general public. The software had been available in beta for several months, allowing early adopters to test the new interface. By moving the stable launch forward, OnePlus is bringing the finalized version to regular users sooner than previously announced.
OnePlus described the new operating system with a focus on artificial intelligence and fluidity. The company stated that ColorOS 17 brings smarter experiences and smoother interactions. It emphasized a design philosophy where technology keeps up with the user naturally. The goal is to help users turn ideas into finished work and move between tasks and devices with less friction.
The original schedule for the first wave of updates was October 29. The current rollout starts seven days earlier than that date. This first batch is limited to the OnePlus 15 and the OnePlus Pad 4. Other devices, including previous generation flagships and various Nord models, are confirmed for the update but will wait for later waves.
The OnePlus 13 is scheduled to receive the update on October 30. While specific dates for other regions are not yet confirmed, the company expects the update to reach them in the coming days. This release follows a period of changes for the brand, including reports that the OnePlus 15 sold out in the United States after the company scaled back its global presence.
