Samsung will release its Galaxy W27 foldable in China on October 29, according to a leak from Ice Universe. The device is expected to go on sale just six days from now, marking the final foldable launch from the company for 2026.

The W27 is a China-exclusive variant that follows Samsung’s annual tradition of rebranding its top-tier foldable with special styling. The leaked image shows a device with a glossy blue back and gold accents surrounding the triple-camera array. This design mirrors the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, which is the current top model in Samsung’s lineup.

The choice of the Ultra as the base model distinguishes the W27 from previous years. Samsung typically builds the W series on its standard foldable, but the W27 is based on the larger Ultra. This shift aligns with the growing popularity of wide-format foldables in the Chinese market, a segment where competitors like Xiaomi and Huawei have also been investing heavily.

The release comes as analysts project a 44% increase in foldable display shipments in 2026. Samsung has cited the success of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the attention generated by the iPhone Duo as drivers for the category. The company has also begun updating several Galaxy devices to Android 17, signaling its continued focus on software refreshes for its existing hardware base.

The W27 is not the first time Samsung has expanded a China-only special edition to a wider audience. In 2024, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition received a broader release, which served as a precursor to the Galaxy Z Fold 7. However, the W27 is expected to remain exclusive to China, continuing the pattern of elaborate, region-specific packaging and design flair that characterizes the W series.

If the leaked date holds, the W27 will be the last foldable Samsung ships in 2026. The company has several new foldable models planned for next year, but the W27 serves as the final entry in this year’s lineup. Its release will test the demand for premium, stylized foldables in the Chinese market as the year closes.
